ComXo Creating Exceptional Calls

Corporate Social Responsibility

Everyone at ComXo gives full commitment to delivering excellence in everything we do, from providing a superior service to our customers to getting involved in charity fund raising activities. We are proud of our office and actively engage with our local community.

We have a great team who continuously look for improvements in what we do, generating ideas on how we can be better and help others more.

We take our contribution to improving the environment very seriously. As a telecoms provider, a lot of what we do has a naturally positive impact, but we are always on the lookout for new ways to do even more.

Corporate Social Responsibility - Charity

During the year we have a number of charity days organised by different team members raising money for a variety of charities. Children in Need, Comic Relief, Breast Cancer, Jeans for Genes and others that are recommended through the staff forum or arise from current global issues. The company matches all money raised on these charity days.

A number of our customers and shareholders have links with charity themselves and we are proud to have been able to help them with their charitable work by supporting some of the events they are involved in through telephone answering. We have recently sponsored the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home 150th Anniversary Event and annually support the Bishopsgate Charity Clay Pigeon Shooting Event raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Corporate Social Responsibility - Community

Being based in Datchet, near Windsor, the Heart of the Royal Borough of Berkshire, we have had some great opportunities to support the local community around us.

We have been sponsoring the Windsor Festival since 2003, we take all of their box office and customer service calls for the Spring and Summer Festivals as well as sponsoring them directly for a number of events during the festival season. It has been amazing to see them grow over the years.

Every year we host a Shakespeare Festival on St Leonard's Hill in Windsor, giving us the opportunity to invite customers and staff to enjoy a truly magical evening. For each show we also invite members of the local community, our staff and their friends and families to join us.

As part of our love for theatre, we also sponsor the Windsor Theatre Guild by handling their box office calls. We were delighted in 2008 to have them perform Macbeth at our Shakespeare Festival.

Recently we have started to support the Royal Windsor Rose and Horticultural Society; taking all of their calls as well as helping them with marketing activities. We are very excited about an upcoming event that we will be sponsoring for the Queens Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

We ensure the exterior of our property is kept clean and tidy so as not to impact the beautiful homes of our immediate neighbours and, when it snows, our staff grit not only our car park and steps, but all of the pavements surrounding our property and the side road that is not caught by the road gritters to make it easier for local residents to get about.

Corporate Social Responsibility - Environment

In the office

As with many office based businesses we can have a large amount of waste, which we endeavour to keep to an absolute minimum through our recycling scheme. Recycling every day waste such as paper, cardboard, plastic containers, cans and keeping normal waste to less than an average household per week.

We dispose safely and securely of our old telecoms and computer equipment through charities and companies who recondition them and use them in global schemes to provide cheaper equipment to deprived and disadvantaged communities around the world.

Our no food and drinks policy in the office, delays the deterioration of our office environment, extending the life of our furniture, fixtures and fittings significantly and reducing the need to replace things regularly.

We are working with our neighbours and managing agents to introduce energy saving products to assist us in keeping electricity, gas and water usage to a minimum. Being a 24hour company and open office space, we do have extended lighting and heating needs that most office environments do not. We have managed this through office layout planning, ensuring that lighting can remain in the areas required overnight, balancing environment with staff welfare.

Our Products

Telecoms by nature reduce the need for travelling; through our teleconferencing products we encourage communication without the polluting effects of flights and driving.

We also strive to take advantage of our own products in our day-to-day business, by doing on line demonstrations through our own MultiSight and MultiVoice products, rather than travelling where possible. We still believe in the benefits of face to face meetings but identify where they are not necessary and try to make the most of any travelling done by booking several visits in one area.

Our Call2 service, providing low cost international calling, allows people to keep in touch with their families and friends whilst abroad. They can do this at a low cost with a high quality experience ensuring nothing is lost in the communication channel, as can be experienced with some of the VoIP alternatives.

We have also introduced on line reporting and billing functionality across all our products with the aim of reducing paper wastage through large itemised telecoms bills.

Corporate Social Responsibility - People

On the last Friday of every month we have our end of month get together, each one arranged by a different department who organise the theme and food for the luncheon. Each department gets the opportunity to update everybody on that month's events and what to expect in the coming months.

We also present the Hero of The Month, our own take on employee of the month. Every member of the team chooses a secret identity ranging from super heroes to cartoon characters. Everybody puts up hero nominations for other team members based on something outstanding they feel they have done. Each month the staff then choose who they feel deserves the Hero of The Month award, which is rewarded with vouchers, chocolates and a certificate on the Hero wall in the office.

Every Hero nomination is marked against the 4 ps. These are collated throughout the year and go towards deciding which staff receive the Hero of the Year and the individual 4p trophies.

Every two months a member from each team joins the staff forum, who meet at our local pub "The Royal Stag" and discuss any issues raised by team members and put ideas and suggestions forwards on how to achieve them. This has resulted in a number of activities in the business over the years; planning charitable days, fresh fruit provided weekly in the office, discounted gym membership and most recently resulted in our staff canteen being decorated by the staff, in their own time and in the colour scheme of their choice.
